Waymo Offsite Wrap-Up Beach Morning for 75 at Tower 12

Waymo's hardware team flew in from the Bay Area for a busy two-day offsite in Santa Monica, and for the last morning before everyone headed to the airport, the organizer wanted something easy. The brief was simple: a light lift, a place to relax and a few hours on the sand.

In May 2025 we set up on the beach at Lifeguard Tower 12, north of the pier, from 9am to 1pm. Instead of a formal seated picnic, we built a lounge layout of umbrellas with two beach chairs under each, plenty of towels for sitting on the sand, beach games, a shaded buffet area and a Bose speaker. Large coolers held still and sparkling water for the group.

Food came from Huckleberry Cafe through the Rustic Canyon Restaurant Group: sandwich and wrap platters, breakfast pastries, doughnuts and coffee, a good fit for a late-morning crowd. Because several people were flying out straight afterwards, we also kept their luggage secure on site so they could enjoy the beach without dragging bags across the sand. The team was dropped off and picked up at the lot right behind the picnic.
