Warner Bros. Discovery Team-Building Beach Picnic in Santa Monica

Warner Bros. Discovery's West Coast ad sales team, based at Ivy Station in Culver City, spent a September 2024 afternoon at the beach for a team-building day. The brief was simple: a relaxed picnic setup on the sand, room for the team to spread out, a shaded spot for the food they were bringing, and games, especially volleyball.

Rather than one long table, the team asked for four separate table areas so smaller groups could gather, and we set it up that way. A shaded buffet area kept their catering out of the sun, and a full-size volleyball court was planned alongside a complimentary beach game. We also brought single-use plates, cutlery and napkins for 50, 50 still and 50 sparkling waters, and extra coolers packed with ice.

The afternoon was a mix of eating, playing and hanging out by the water, the kind of low-key offsite where a few beach games do most of the work of getting people talking. It's a good model for teams who want to handle their own food and simply need the beach set up and ready when they arrive.
