Snap Inc. Team Social Picnic for 30 at Tower 28

A Snap Inc. team wanted a social event in summer 2022, the organizer suggested a beach picnic, and the budget was approved the same day. After a few rounds of date-juggling for a big group, about 30 people met at Lifeguard Tower 28 in Santa Monica in early August.
Games were a big part of the plan: cornhole, bocce ball, badminton, ladder toss and Spikeball were set up around the picnic. The team arranged their own food, so we set up a buffet station, and brought out two 48-quart igloo coolers packed with ice for drinks.
Tower 28, in the Ocean Park area south of the Santa Monica Pier, is a short drive for Westside teams and has a parking lot right by the sand. For a group this size, a buffet plus a ring of games keeps the afternoon social without needing a schedule.
