Omidyar Network Bonfire Picnic at Dockweiler Beach

Most of our picnics end around sunset. This one started after it. In May 2023, Caspian Agency planned an evening for its client, Omidyar Network, at one of the fire pits on Dockweiler Beach, and we built a picnic around a bonfire from 8 to 10 p.m.
Our team arrived in the late afternoon to set up and get the fire going before guests arrived. The seating had two layers: a sit-down, low-table picnic with pillows for 30, and 25 extra chairs for guests who didn't want to sit on the ground. The whole setup was lit with string lights in a circle and flameless candles, and music came from a Bluetooth speaker with a wired backup in case the connection dropped.
The menu we planned with the agency was built for a cool night by the water, with s'mores supplies, charcuterie and fruit, and warm drinks, set out on buffet tables near the fire.
