Beautycounter Tech Team Sunset Picnic for 50 at Tower 20

Beautycounter's Santa Monica office is only a block from the beach, so a team picnic was an easy pitch. The planning started with about 20 people from the tech team. Once leadership sent out the invite, RSVPs kept coming in, and by the day of the event in April 2023 we were setting up for 50.
Because a group that size would be walking over from the office, we set up at Lifeguard Tower 20 instead of Tower 28. Tower 20 is about a seven-minute walk from the office. Everyone had a seat, across ten low picnic tables. The picnic ran from 5 p.m. through sunset at about 7:40, and we extended the end time so the group could watch it.
Dinner was ordered from Mendocino Farms and delivered to the roundabout at the bottom of Bay Street. Our crew collected it there and set it out on shaded buffet tables. We added cornhole, ladder toss and bocce on the sand, which gave a mixed group of colleagues something to do beyond eating.
