McKinsey & Company Evening Team Picnic for 30 at Tower 12

A McKinsey & Company team wrapped up a workday in July 2024 with an evening picnic at Lifeguard Tower 12. Because the group had a meeting beforehand, the start moved to 6 pm, and our team arrived mid-afternoon to have everything finished well before anyone walked down to the sand.

The organizer asked us to set the tables for 30 so there would be room for a few extra colleagues beyond the expected 26. Catered food was delivered to the beach ahead of the start time, and we received it and set it out on a shaded buffet table. Still and sparkling water came with the setup, and we added coolers and cups for the group's own drinks.

For downtime between courses, we brought out cornhole, Spikeball and bocce. The setup sat directly in front of Perry's Beach Cafe, which made it easy to find for a team coming straight from the office — a low-effort way to get everyone together outside after a long day of meetings.
