Califun Hosts French Travel Agents for a Sunset Apéro by the Pier

Califun, a Los Angeles-based travel company that works with French travel agencies, brought a delegation to Santa Monica in May 2024 while everyone was in town for the IPW travel trade show. The guests were travel agents and tour operators from France, and the idea was to let them experience a beach picnic firsthand so they could sell it to their own clients.
The event was styled as an apéro on the beach, and that's exactly what the chalkboard said: "Apéro on the Beach - Califun." We set up for 20 guests near Lifeguard Tower 12, just north of the pier, from 6 to 8pm as the sun went down. The picnic included charcuterie boards spread across the tables, small vases of fresh flowers, coolers of still and sparkling water, and cornhole for anyone who wanted to play.
A fitting format for a group whose job is recommending experiences: trying one out for themselves before selling it.
