Sunset Birthday Picnic with Live Guitar and a Sound Bath for 24

Some birthdays call for more than cake. For this August 2023 evening picnic at Lifeguard Tower 28, the guest of honor planned a two-part celebration for 24 friends and family: live music as the sun went down, followed by a private sound bath on the sand.

We set up a large picnic with low tables, cushions and a small floral arrangement on each of the four tables, plus a buffet table so the host's own catering could be laid out in one place. A cooler of ice sat alongside for drinks. The evening began at 6pm with a live guitarist playing through the golden hour, and once the music wrapped, the group moved into a sunset sound bath. Guests were asked to bring a blanket or yoga mat so everyone could settle in comfortably.

Pairing a picnic with a guided wellness experience is one of our favorite ways to slow a celebration down. The music carries people through dinner, and the sound bath gives the night a calm, reflective close right as the light fades over the water.
