Google & YouTube Team Outing Beach Picnic for 22 at Tower 28

We'd hosted several large picnics for Google teams in the months before, so a request from a combined Google and YouTube team felt familiar. They booked for a Tuesday in January 2023 and needed the picnic to finish by 4 p.m., when the team had another event. We set it up from 1:30 to 4 at Lifeguard Tower 28.

The team asked for more to drink than water, so we brought thermals of iced tea along with the usual still and sparkling water. For 22 guests, the setup was five low picnic tables with six chef's-choice cheese boards, rugs, pillows and shade umbrellas. The chalkboard welcomed the team by name.

Getting there was simple. Guests parked in the lot off Barnard Way and followed the wooden walkway next to the restrooms out across the sand to the picnic. A winter weekday at Tower 28 is usually quiet, which makes it a good spot for a team to spend an afternoon together outside.
