A Family Reunion Beach Picnic for 30 at Lifeguard Tower 28

Family reunions are one of the best uses of a big beach picnic: everyone in one place, nobody stuck hosting in their living room, and plenty of room for relatives to catch up in small groups. In June 2022, we hosted a family reunion of about 30 at Lifeguard Tower 28 in Santa Monica.
The family booked a long day on the sand, from noon to 5 pm, which gave relatives time to arrive, catch up and settle in. A chalkboard sign welcomed everyone to the reunion, and catering was part of the plan for the day.
Tower 28, in the Ocean Park section south of the Santa Monica Pier, has a public parking lot right by the beach, which helps when family members are coming from different directions. For reunions, booking extra hours like this family did keeps the day from feeling rushed.
