Scopely Soft-Launch Celebration Beach Picnic at Tower 28

Scopely came to us in December 2022 with a reason to celebrate: the launch of a new product. The team booked a picnic for the Thursday after the soft launch at Lifeguard Tower 28 in Ocean Park, and the chalkboard said simply, "Congratulations on Soft Launch."

Winter light shaped the plan. Sunset that week was around 4:45 p.m., so the picnic moved from a 4 p.m. start to 3 to 5 p.m. That gave the group daylight on the sand and the sunset as the event wound down. The headcount shifted a little in the final days, from 22 to 21 to 20 and back up when someone asked to bring a plus-one, so we kept the setup flexible.

For the group, the setup was five low picnic tables with six chef's-choice cheese boards, still and sparkling water, and our usual rugs, pillows and umbrellas. It was an easy afternoon out of the office to mark a milestone.
