A Labor Day Weekend Beach Games Party in Ocean Park

Labor Day weekend 2022 brought a six-hour beach games party to the sand near Lifeguard Tower 25/26 in Santa Monica's Ocean Park area. The chalkboard welcomed guests to the second edition of the host's own "games" tradition, and the setup was designed for a long day outdoors.

The picnic ran from noon to 6 pm for a group of about 20. We placed eight umbrellas across the space for shade, added an extra rug with 10 floor pillows for lounging, and set up a buffet station for the food, with two coolers for drinks and a supply of still and sparkling water.

Games were the centerpiece: cornhole, ladder toss and Spikeball, all within reach of the picnic. A long booking like this works best with generous shade and extra lounge space, so guests can step out of a game and cool off without leaving the party.
