A 50th Birthday Beach Lunch for 20 Women

Twenty women gathered on the sand for a friend's 50th birthday lunch in September 2022. A close friend of the guest of honor reached out to plan it, and the picnic ran from noon to 3 pm on a Friday, set up on the beach north of the Santa Monica Pier.
Lunch came from Mendocino Farms, delivered to the parking lot so our team could carry it down, and we set up a buffet station to hold it. With a warm week in the forecast, the birthday cake stayed in a cooler until it was time to serve, then went on a cake stand; four floral arrangements decorated the tables.
The guest of honor brought a few personal touches of her own, including wine charms and pickleballs, and an igloo cooler kept drinks chilled. A chalkboard sign wished her a happy 50th with a playful picnic pun, a small detail that set the tone as guests arrived.
