An Engagement Party Beach Picnic for 22 at Tower 28

This June 2022 engagement party at Lifeguard Tower 28 grew and shifted the way engagement parties often do. The first inquiry was for about 50 people; after a few rounds of planning, the seated headcount landed at 22, with more friends expected to drop by over the course of the day.
The picnic ran from 11 am to 3 pm in our black, white and tan mudcloth look, which the hosts planned to echo in their invitations. They brought additional food and their own DJ, so we set up two buffet tables for the spread and three igloo coolers for drinks, and dressed the tables with lanterns and votives. A chalkboard at the entrance celebrated the couple.
Games filled out the day: cornhole, bocce ball, ladder toss and Spikeball, spaced around the picnic so guests could drift between rounds and conversation. Tower 28, in the Ocean Park stretch south of the Santa Monica Pier, gave the group room to spread out on a summer Saturday.
