8minute Solar Energy planned a Monday evening happy hour on the beach in June 2022, reaching out just days before the date. The slot was open, and the team of about 20 met us at Lifeguard Tower 28 at 6 pm.
The picnic was set for the RSVP list, with charcuterie boards (plus one extra added once the headcount firmed up) and a fruit platter from Andrew's Cheese Shop. It's a simple format that works well for a weeknight team outing: the timing lets people come straight from work, and there's food and a place to sit ready when they get there.
Tower 28 sits in the Ocean Park area of Santa Monica beach, south of the pier, with a lot beside the sand, which makes it an easy meeting point for a short-notice evening event.
